NOBODY could have convinced us there was hope for our family......
After
8 years of marriage, living in constant upheaval with two little boys caught in
the middle, the only solution seemed divorce and separation of lives.
Healing didn't seem a possibility with the depths of the wounds.
In March 1999 there was now a restraining order that would insure that
separation and what "seemed" to be the answer. A Judge
ordered this dad and husband to alcohol/drug rehab, including his departure
within 24 hours. Before he knew it, he was on a plane headed for Jacksonville
Florida.
The next 6 months were only the beginning. It was not an easy time for any
of us. Woody was now in a place unfamiliar to him, learning a whole new
way of dealing with life. He had come to the end of himself and was ready
to let God work in his life. He had many days of Satan attempting to discourage
him and beat him down but with daily memorization of God's word, daily Chapel
services, and prayer he got through it, growing each day into a person his kids
would cherish, his wife would love again and an incredible witness to what God
can do in your life.
Back home Kathy had to do some serious realizations of her part in all this.
A friend frequently said "during these times you have to get down on your
knees and pray". That was the first step in the healing
process. There were many hours of pleads that God would heal the wounds and
change a bitter heart. It was time to give God 100% controlling interest
in our lives for the first time. She attended a small study group each
week, listening to Bill
and Anabel Gillham's
encouragement on the family through video tape. Slowly, the healing began for
all of us.
September 1999 Kathy headed for Florida in preparation for Woody's graduation
from the Trinity
Rehab Farm.
What an incredible experience to see God at work down there, providing for their
needs and how He works in the lives of the hurting. The picture was taken
at the Sheridan Airport when Dad first got off the plane and saw his boys for
the first time in 6-months.
There are still times we want to take our lives back and we struggle just like
everybody else. But staying in God's word, daily discipline and prayer,
prayer, prayer gets us through those tough times.
Our family is a real family, living the VICTORIOUS life God has bestowed upon
us! In October 2000 God added to our blessings, giving us our third
son Jesse. We have
so much
to be thankful for. We are still unsure at this time what God has planned
for our future. We have to be a light wherever God places us and have
patience, continuing to grow and spread God's word to other's who may be where
we once were.....
